Current Build Requirements
Scope is intentionally narrow: document only what is actually in use. This iteration focuses on the container for a shallow deep-water-culture (DWC) with fully separated plant cells.
Footprint
- Max area: 19" × 10" (must not exceed)
- Target fill depth: ~4" water column
Container
- Color: black/opaque preferred to suppress algae (clear acceptable only if wrapped/light‑blocked)
- Compartments: 3 isolated cells in one basin (no root mingling)
- Lid: drillable, accepts 2" net pots (default) — 3" optional
Function
- Each cell supports one plant; shared or independent aeration
- Simple to lift/transpose for transplanting and cleaning
Backup
- Plan a secondary reservoir hookup via 1/2" bulkhead for passive equalization (optional)
- Air delivery redundancy (spare pump or second outlet) — tracked later
Container Direction (picked)
- 10" × 15" × 4–6" food storage box (PP/PC), black if available; otherwise clear + black wrap.
- Matching flat/handled lid (drillable) with three 2" net‑pot holes on center.
- Internal 3‑cell divider made from black 3 mm corrugated plastic (coroplast) or 1/16" acrylic; slots or silicone‑sealed for watertight walls with a few small flow ports only if shared volume is desired.
Reason: 10×15 footprint fits within 19×10, remains rigid, and has widely available lids. Opaque exterior prevents algae and looks tidy.
Next up: finalize specific SKUs (see Products) and fabricate the divider grid; implementation notes will land under the Implementation page.
